2019.10.10 Due to the approaching Typhoon #19, The Setouchi Triennale 2019 artworks and facilities will be closed all day on October 12, Saturday.

Typhoon #19 is approaching according to information issued by the Takamatsu Meteorological Agency. Artworks and facilities will be temporarily closed all day except some artworks on October 12. All events on this day will be cancelled.

*No. sd27 “GEORGES gallery” on Shodoshima and No. sd32 “Fisherman's Dream” in Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Village, Shodoshima will be open normal hours on October 12.

*No. mg19 “Oninoko Tile Project” in Onigashima Cave on Megijima, No. tk13 “Portraits of Architecture in JAPAN: Stories of its protagonists” at The Kagawa Museum, No. tk15 “Suitcase in a Bottle” in Takamatsu Yashima, No. tk16 “Place out of Time” in Shikokumura, No. tk18 “Watch Tower” in Takamatsu Ryuozan each have a website, so please check for further information.

Some artworks will be closed from the morning on October 11 due to damage prevention. The artworks will be reopened after checking the condition, and events will be expected to be held as well on October 13.

Depending on the typhoon’s track, the information may be changed. We will update the detailed information of artworks, facilities and events as Urgent Information on our website, https://setouchi-artfest.jp/en/. Please do not go near the artworks because it is very dangerous during these closed hours.

2019.09.27 The artists and projects participating in the Setouchi Triennale 2019

From the autumn season starting on Saturday, September 28, new 25 art works will be exhibited and 3 artworks will be replaced. Also many performance events will be held.
In addition, some of the exhibition are canceled and some work title are changed.

Details of the new artwork “Valuable Cargo” that will be performed (E30) around Takamatsu Port and video installation (os10) in Oshima during the fall season of the Setouchi Triennale 2019 will be announced as follows.

Contents|
Based on a video installation exhibited in Oshima, popular actors in Japan and Europe will appear on stage. Draw a world of illusions that combine video and performance. By sharing time and space with the actors, the audience will feel more physically and directly the experience of those who have been isolated in Oshima for a long time. And Akira Emoto specially appears only on this stage.

About video installation (os10)

Content | A video work on the people of Oshima who have been isolated for a long time. A documentary that films interaction with residents when the world-famous actress Liv Ullman visits Oshima intersects with fiction filmed in Japan and Europe.

2019.09.25 New artwork ( Shodoshima)

One of the participating artists and projects in Setouchi Triennale 2019, the following artwork was added on Shodoshima, and as shown in the attached "Setouchi Triennale 2019 Participated Artists and Projects", participating artists and projects are in 32 countries and regions from 215 works 35 events (as of September 25).
As a result, 25 new works will be released and 3 exhibitions will be changed from the fall season.

A 7.5m long and 4m high pig made of straw appears in the olive field.
It symbolizes the “remnants of food production” called olive porks, which feeds on strained lees of olive oil and rice straw after harvesting.

2019.09.13 Painting Workshop by Katsuhiko Hibino "Ototoi-maru"


“Project for the Museum of Seabed Inquiry Ship in Setouchi” that imagines an invisible and nearby world called underwater, has started in 2010.
Katsuhiko Hibino will hold a workshop to paint an art museum ship “Ototoi-maru” before the opening of the Setouchi Triennale 2019 Autumn season (September 28th to November 4th).

Content
The art museum ship "Ototoi-maru" was released at the 2013 Triennale and items hoisted up from the seabed were exhibited inside of the ship. Before the exhibition in Awashima for Triennale Autumn season, re-coating of the bottom of the ship and painting will be held.
