Within the context of the local social and physical environment, Erkmen’s works penetrate existing structures and situations, giving them a new interpretation. Blending life and art, she creates ambiguous spaces by switching the relationships or contexts of everyday spaces and objects.
Through her site-specific works, which are consummated by the presence of an audience or participants, she expresses a model of socialization.
