A steel sculpture recalling ancient voyages

The Kanrin Maru was the first ship to sail from Japan across the Pacific and back. Many of its crew members were from the Shiwaku Islands. Working from this fact, Ishii created a sculpture of the Kanrin Maru with hoisted sails, floating in mid-air.
