Art House Project "Go'o Shrine"

Designed by Hiroshi Sugimoto

Glass stairs connect an underground stone chamber to the shrine above, uniting two worlds.
*Go’o Shrine can be visited at any time

Art House Project
The Art House Project restores traditional Naoshima houses, temples and shrines and transforms them into art spaces. Located in a ‘living’ district, they are interwoven with memories of a time when these dwellings were homes. The project began in 1998, and seven buildings are currently open to the public.
